Accessibility Statement

Our accessibility commitments and how to tell us when we fall short.

Draft pending legal review

This document accurately describes current product behaviour but is awaiting review by counsel. It is not yet a binding agreement.

1. Our commitment

Chapter software is used by officers and members with a wide range of abilities, devices, and assistive technologies. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.

2. What we do today

  • Semantic HTML landmarks, headings, and a logical document outline
  • A visible skip-to-content link on every page
  • Visible keyboard focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • Form inputs with programmatically associated labels, hints, and error messages
  • Error and status messages announced through ARIA live regions
  • Colour contrast chosen to meet AA against the charcoal, gold, and white palette
  • Respect for the operating system’s reduced-motion preference
  • Text that reflows and remains usable at 200% zoom and on small screens
  • No reliance on colour alone to convey status; status is always labelled

3. Known limitations

This statement is a live document and we would rather disclose gaps than claim perfection. Areas we are actively improving:

  • The full plan-comparison table is horizontally scrollable on very small screens. It is announced correctly to assistive technology, but the visual scroll affordance can be missed.
  • Some administrative screens inside the platform are still being built out and have not yet received a full assistive-technology audit.
  • PDF or document exports, once introduced, will require their own accessibility review.

4. Accessibility of your own content

Chapters publish their own content through the platform. When you upload images, provide alternative text. When you structure a page, use real headings rather than bold text. The platform prompts for this, but the quality of your published site depends on your choices.

5. Feedback

If you encounter a barrier, tell us. Include the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you were using. Write to hello@chapterconnect.example and we will respond and track the issue.

6. Assessment approach

We evaluate the platform through automated checks, manual keyboard-only traversal, and screen-reader testing. We will publish a conformance report as the platform modules are completed.
